Thirty Seconds
Thirty Seconds is a short movie that is, not surprisingly, thirty seconds long. The final title is “The Man Without an Interface”. The core idea was to imagine a world without an interface. How would that be? Lost in a world of objects without interfaces, no means to interact.

Defining interaction design is difficult. The given brief was to express the definition of interaction design in thirty seconds of motion pictures. What if you had thirty seconds television time, during prime-time. How would you describe interaction design to people you have probably never heard of that field before. How do you seduce people to become interested — companies, students and society at large.
Shooting
We shot the first few scenes at 6:30 am somewhere in the countryside in Northern Italy. A very nice scene indeed. The story is about a man who's car has broken down, who is lost and is looking for help. Obviously because every object is devoid of an interface his task is very complicated, if not impossible. We shot several scenes in the city. Back in the studio it was mostly post-production, removing most interfaces and markings.

This was the first project at Interaction Design Institute Ivrea and was aimed at getting to know each other and introduce is to interaction design as well as make us think about the field at large. It was a very fun and exhausting week where we learned to know each other and work together as a team for the first time.
