Alcatel

This innovation workshop (Applied Dreams) explores user needs of high end or luxury mobile phones. The aim is to design interaction concepts and prototypes for top-of-the-line mobile phones. We conceptualized phone interfaces (MMI), applications and service opportunities for the high end market. We presented a working interface prototype.

Mobile Experience

The products and services should reflect uniqueness and distinguish themselves clearly through the use of high-end tangible assets, information-based resources and mobile technology. Exclusive services and content are delivered by means of an adaptive interface, aware of its context of use and location, resulting in a sophisticated yet convenient experience

interface 1

Interface

The central concept behind the above interface is a circular model. The circle itself is divided in sections that can represent different things. The top half are functions and the lower half are persons. This configuration allows for various interactions based on a drag and drop concept. The screen itself would be touch sensitive, either operated by finger or with a stylus-like input device. The image on the right shows the division between functions (actions) and contacts (persons).

interface 2

The first screenshot shows the number of missed SMS. The top green area indicates the SMS function. Below the persons are represented with their name. Clicking on the person or name would bring up the SMS in question. Clicking on the SMS function button would take a user to the SMS menu. The second screenshot shows the number of missed calls, similarly to the missed SMS interface.
